About Chris Baxter Arborist

I have been involved in the industry since I left school, working for various tree surgeons & then going on to study Arboriculture at Merrist Wood College, Surrey. There I acquired the National Diploma of Arboriculture along with the National Certificate of Horticulture. I have also worked throughout Norway & Sweden picking up many new ideas and techniques that I use to my working advantage. On my return from Scandinavia, I decided to set up as Chris Baxter Arborists as I was fed up with working for British companies with poorly running equipment and low standards of work. At the start of 2001, Chris Baxter Arborists ‘Caring for Dorset Trees’ was formed.

All of our staff hold relevant NPTC’s; Aerial Rescue, First Aider at Work, Chapter 8 signs & lighting. I am CIS registered for working on construction sites. Our company provides Public Liability insurance for the sum of £5,000,000. With an IPAF qualification we can self drive and operate Mobile Elevated Work Platforms to perform works more safely & efficiently to comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety Working at Heights Legislation.

We are contractors to the National Trust, Land & Estate Agents, Builders & developers, Public schools, Golf courses, the private sector & many more. As Arborists we are committed to carrying out works to the highest of standards offering a professional, reliable service at affordable rates. We have yards based outside Blandford & Wimborne, which means that we can comfortably cover the whole of Dorset, West Hampshire, South Wiltshire & South Somerset.

We can discuss tree management, arrange routine inspections and carry out recommended works to reduce large costs in the future & reduce the likelihood of tree failure.

The equipment

All our equipment is specifically designed or professionally modified for the Arboricultural industry & complies with all up to date health & safety legislation. Our 6 inch chipper is towed behind 3.5t GVW chip truck able to carry approx. 5m3 of wood chip or logs. We also run a 4x4 with capability of carrying 4 men with all necessary equipment, towing either the chipper for off road jobs or the 14ft 3.5t trailer for timber & logs. It also means that even on the iciest of days we can safely arrive on site to carry out works. The stump grinder we operate is capable of accessing most back gardens due to the short width and ability to be lifted up steps. We haven’t yet found a stump it can’t grind out. Recently I have added a mobile saw mill to our fleet of equipment so timber can now be planked on site; including back gardens.
